Ede people develop community tourism

DAK LAK Buon Ako Dhong has 27 traditional long houses of Ede people, dozens of households have taken advantage of what is available for business and tourism.

In a 60-meter-long wooden stilt house in Ako Dhong village, Mr. Yang Sing, 50, is always preparing lunch for his guests. Beside, two employees are cleaning and cleaning the floor.

Mr. Sing's house was built to stay decades ago. The owner has been in motel and coffee business for more than 10 years. The first thing many tourists enjoy two wooden ladders in front of the house. In particular, Cai bridge is on the right, with two breasts is the entrance to the house for women and distinguished guests, the smaller Duc stairs are on the left for men in the family. Mr. Sing explained, this detail represents the power of women in matriarchy of Ede people.

Thanks to preserving the intact long house of the Ede people, Ako Dhong village attracts many domestic and foreign tourists. Previously, every day Mr. Sing could sell more than 100 cups of coffee, the room had no vacancies on weekends or Tet holidays, earning several million dong a day.

50 m from Mr. Sing's house is Arul coffee shop. This place vividly recreates the typical cultural living space of the Ede people, with daily life items placed throughout the house such as bamboo or wood furniture.

"We often visit this shop because of the strange atmosphere and delicious coffee," said Vo Tuan Huy, 32, from Buon Ma Thuot City. He said that the business form of the restaurant is quite interesting, giving customers a comfortable and peaceful feeling.

In addition to the Central Highlands atmosphere, this stilt cafe often organizes gong performances, or folk songs, to explore the unique cuisine of the Ede people. Drinks range from VND 15,000 - VND 35,000, with hot coffee and cocoa enjoyed by many diners.

In September, Ako Dhong village was planned as a community tourist area with an area of ​​over 55 hectares and a population of 2,000 - 3,000 people. About 30% of the people in Ako Dhong village live on brocade weaving, making wine, crafting handicrafts, so the government of Buon Ma Thuot city prioritizes developing this type of tourism in order to create jobs. for the citizen.

Mr. Vo Tien Dung, Head of Buon Ma Thuot City Culture and Information Department, said that tourism development is an opportunity for people to preserve and promote the culture of the Ede people. Mr. Dung added, the road to the village is being expanded investment, creating favorable conditions for tourists and residents.
